Michael V. Smith graduated from the University of Nebraska College of Law in 1963.  He founded the firm of Smith, King and Simmons in 1967 and has been a prosecutor for most of his career, as the Sheridan County Attorney and Deputy Sheridan County Attorney, during that time.  He is a member of the Nebraska Bar Association, the Nebraska County Attorney’s Association, and is licensed to appear in state and federal courts both in Nebraska and Arizona.  He has appeared in trial and appellate matters in every level of the court system in the State of Nebraska, in the U.S. District Courts for Nebraska and Arizona, and in the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals.  He has been involved as lead counsel in more than 100 trials and has appeared as an appellate advocate in the Nebraska Court of Appeals, the Nebraska Supreme Court and the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals more than 50 times.  He is the past President of the First Presbyterian Church of Gordon, Nebraska, the Gordon Golf & Country Club, the Gordon Chamber of Commerce and other local charitable organizations.  He moved to Of Counsel status in 2012.
